Kingdom Come - Week 3 Lesson

I am taking an online art class called Kingdom Come
It's a free 5 week series about the wonderful aspects of Christ Jesus, Praise and Worship, and His Church.
It will be taking a look at 5 themes and making art around those themes.
I just completed the Week 3 Lesson.  Here is my project.
The lesson is called Anchor For My Soul.

Hebrews 6:19-20
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

The background is pages from an old book, then covered with a light coat of white paint. Then a light coat of blue paint on the top part of the page, and light brown on the bottom part of the page.  The tree and anchor were hand drawn on and then painted in.  The blossoms on the top part of the tree are also painted on.  I then added stickers on it.   I messed up on the top part of this, my blossoms were to dark so I tried to lighten them up with a light coat of white paint, which I think made it look worse.

you are more beautiful.....

Made this card to send to a friend of mine.
The background is paper that I purchased at our local craft store...both pieces are the same sheet (double sided paper.)   I used a Unity stamp set called Faceless Beauty by Angie Blom.  I colored her in with Promarkers, then distressed the edges and sponged on brown ink around all the edges.

The challenge at Unity Challenge Blog has these inspiration pictures to use.
I used the colors in the top picture, and the card sketch in the lower left hand side.

Merry Christmas Card (Early)

I made this early Christmas card for the challenge at Art Impressions.
The background is made using Gelatos.  I then stamped on a country christmas tree from ODBD's...coloring it in with Promarkers.  I stamped this cute Art Impressions stamp called Fred & Millie - from the Golden Oldies collection. I also used Promarkers to color it in, then I cut it out and attached it to my card.   I then hand wrote on the Merry Christmas with a red Promarker.
On top of it I sprinkled on white glitter to give it some sparkle - and it make it look like it is snowing.
I am kind of disappointed in the picture...you cannot see the sparkle as much on here as you can on the actual card.

thinking of you

Made this card to send to a friend.
For the base of my card I used a green distressed marker to make the grass...and blue & pink Gelatos for the sky.   I stamped on the girl (I picked up this stamp at Goodwill) and colored her in with Promarkers.  Also stamped on the thinking of you.  I used a free dog digi from Starry Nights Studio, coloring it in with Promarkers and then cutting it out and gluing it on.  I then added on four puffy sticker butterflies.

Kingdom Come - Week 2 Lesson

I am taking an online art class called Kingdom Come
It's a free 5 week series about the wonderful aspects of Christ Jesus, Praise and Worship, and His Church.
It will be taking a look at 5 themes and making art around those themes.
I just completed the Week 2 Lesson.  Here is my project.
The Lesson is called Get Out Of The Boat!
from Matthew 14:22-33
The background layer is made using tissue paper to create texture.  Then I added several colors to try to create a storm effect for the sky and water.  All the layers of paint are spread on using an old credit card.  I then hand drew my sail boat on.    I hand wrote the Get Out Of The Boat using white and black markers.   I printed out the Matthew 14:22-33 and attached it to the top of the page.

Matthew 14:22-33
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said,“why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Find Joy

Made another art journal page.
This adorable image is made by Nicci Battilana and can be purchased Here - she is called Sheri's A Doll.  For the background I used several colors of Gelatos with water.  I traced on the image onto my page, coloring her in with distressed markers.  I drew on the umbrella, hearts, grass and flowers in the grass.  The flower on the right hand top of the page is a stencil, along with the words.  The swirls are sponge stamps.

Nuts In A Tree

Made this card using Art Impressions stamp set called Girlfriends Laughing Set.
These two gals remind me of my long time friend and me.  There have been times when we would be up all night talking and laughing.
I made a Z fold card using the colors orange, purple and black.  I also used a sticker of a moon to represent the night.  Love the saying too :-)

Kingdom Come - Week 1 Lesson

I am taking an online art class called Kingdom Come
It's a free 5 week series about the wonderful aspects of Christ Jesus, Praise and Worship, and His Church.
It will be taking a look at 5 themes and making art around those themes.
I just completed the Week 1 Lesson.  Here is my project.
I used several colors of paint on this, stencils, mod podge, painters tape, and pages from an old book.
I typed out the Galatians 2:20-21 verse and glued it on, then used distress ink on it.

Galatians 2:20-21
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live,
but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.
I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law then Christ died needlessly.

In my thoughts and prayers

Made this card for a friend who is going through some struggles right now.
For the top of my card I colored in strips of yellow and light orange.  The bottom of the card is yellow and orange circles.  I placed a strip of patterned ribbon between the two. It's kind of hard to tell, but the ribbon has the two colors in it.  I added three flowers along with three brads to it.  Then stamped on the You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Scrapping Everyday Mini Crop

At Scrapping Everyday Miracles we are hosting a Welcome Back Mini Crop.
There are six different challenges to play along in during the month of September.
You don't want to miss it!
My challenge is the #4 one...hope you will join me in this - along with all of the challenges.
My challenge is a Theme challenge.  The theme is Walking with Jesus.  The Scripture I chose is Colossians 2:6 Therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
Here is my project:
My project is Mixed Media.  I used a 8x10 canvas for the base.  I used gesso, water color paints, stencils, and stamps.  I printed out the Scripture and cut each saying out and attached them with glue. I also cut out some stars and hearts and attached them on.
The flip flops and the two other saying are stamped on using ODBD's stamps.  I used two stencils and gesso to form the textured areas.  They are suppose to represent feet.

So come on over to Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge Blog to play along and have a chance to win!

The Bumps In The Road

Made another page in my art journal.
We all have bumps in the road of life, but it's how we handle them that count.
We need to run the Jesus with them.
I started my page by using different shades of Gelatos on it, and rubbing it in.  Then I used a couple different shades of dauber paints.  I used two stencils and applied texture paste over them.  I hand wrote on the bumps in the road, run to Jesus, and how we deal with the bumps.  I traced the cross on.  The pray, hope, believe, faith & seek God are all stickers.  I also stamped on an ODBD's stamp of Footprints in the sand...which didn't stamp very well over the texture.

Moods

Did another art journal page.
This is a big step for me - hand drawing a face.   I am not very artistic (as you can tell)...but I just wanted to do this.
At different stages in my life, these are all feelings/moods I have experienced.

thinking of you

The challenge this week at CCEE Stampers is to use Newsprint.
We don't get the paper...we read the news online.  So I downloaded a newspaper article and printed it out.   I stamped on a Julie Nutting stamp called Chiara over the newsprint, colored parts of her in with distress markers and then cut her out.   I added four flowers and a ribbon bow...then stamped on the thinking of you.

Beauty Is In The Eyes Of The Beholder

I made this Mixed Media page in my Art Journal.  The background is made with watercolor paints.  The flowers are from stencils using Promarkers to color them in.  The Hope, Peace & Faith are also from stencils that I sponged paint on.  I made my own texture paste (for the first time) and again used a stencil to create the texture in the circle.  I used a paint dauber in blue, pink and yellow.  I added three crepe paper flowers and then painted on the heart and hand wrote on the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  The eyes are stamped on with a rubber stamp.
My inspiration is from the Mixed Media challenge blog photo for this months challenge.
I zoned in on the purple the most, then the green, orange, yellow and pinks.

Humphrey's Apples

It's time for September's Progressive Challenge at Imagine That...Digi's by Kris.
She also given this Humphrey's Apples set to those who played along in last months challenge.
I used the pre-colored image, and also the Thanks a bushel are included with this set.
I used an apple patterned paper for my background.  I also cut out the apple basket and pie (which this pattern is on the other side of the sheet) and attached them with 3D foam squares.
The adorable image is also attached with 3D foam squares...and the sentiment is just glued on.

This month Kris is allowing people to use any Imagine That! image for this challenge...but not to just use a sentiment.

The picture of the lady dancing is from a store bought card that I cut out using Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles die cut....this is my frame.   I hand wrote on the words (the words on the top of my card were also on the store bought card, except I just wrote them on my card instead) - then added some purple glitter gems.
